Mr Hessen, or one of German, wanted to be estimated his
vase that was one of works of first Kakiemon(初代柿右衛門).
The ancestor of Mr Hessen in 18 century was well-known
collector of ceramics.
First Kakiemon was a noted ceramist at Koimari(古伊万里)
school of ceramics about 350 years ago.
He was the founder who used red on ceramics.
There were clear mountain, river and flowers with bright red
on this vase.
14th Kakiemon who is active now was surprised with this
splendid work.
I was impressed with this beautiful vase, clear outline and
brilliant red.
Mr Hessen estimated his vase 100,000,000 yen.
But famous connoisseur Nakajima Seinosuke(中島誠之助)
estimated this vase 500,000,000 yen.
He ranked this vase as a national treasure.
Viva Kakiemon!
